In a way, I do hope my sister doesn’t end up going to University. Not because I’m a horrible bastard little brother, but because I’ll miss her terribly.
For instance, I know that in taking this photo she probably changed her hair a bit and did about ten takes of it until she looked ‘pretty without even looking like I care’.
I know this, because I’ve been there. It’s one of those little things you pick up on when you’re around someone for so long.
If my sister goes to Cardiff, she’ll only be ‘down the road’, but for me that’s an age. Her going to University marks the beginning of the end of my ‘childhood’. Strange thought. Mum and her brother rarely see each other because they live so far away, and I’d hate for that to happen between me and my sister because she is the best anyone could ask for.
I’ve never known a person more accepting or intelligent. Yes, she gets moody when she gets hungry (and if you point this out to her during that time, she’ll get even moodier), but it’s those little things that will stay with me, if she goes to University or not.
Either way, Nia, you are the best sister a boy could ask for. I will miss you, but it’s just all a part of growing up.
